Should I have my Honda Civic's air conditioning condenser unit changed?

My 2001 Honda Civic SE automatic has been diagnosed as needing a new low pressure pipe and/or condenser. £500 is the quote for whole job. The Honda official agent has said he can do just the pipe for £160, but I am worried that I will then need the condenser done anyway. Is it worth having one done without the other? I am also considering obtaining a part from another source but don't know if my Honda dealer will then fit it.

I'd get an independent a/c specialist to quote as well. A nine-year-old condenser could be close to end of its life, but it's not worth replacing on a nine-year-old car unless you absolutely have to.
