Why is my Peugeot 207 GT losing power?

In September 2008 I bought a used 2007 Peugeot 207GT and was delighted with it. However, over the last few months it has developed a significant power loss problem that Peugeot only seem capable of fixing temporarily. It seems to be a progressive problem whereby the power delivery becomes more and more erratic and the car becomes increasingly hesitant to accelerate from standstill/low revs, until the turbo seems to completely cut out for no apparent reason, resulting in snail-like acceleration and frequent stalling at the lights.

The car has now been back to a Peugeot main dealer three times over the last four months to remedy this problem but to no avail. Firstly they "updated" the engine management system, which cured the problem for a month before it returned. Next, I was informed they would need to replace a "brake switch", charging me for the privilege, which again temporarily fixed the problem. The car was back with the dealer again last week and was kept overnight whilst they tried to diagnose the problem. They informed me that there was an engine timing fault which was automatically knocking out the turbo as a safety feature. They tell me that they have replaced the timing chain and kindly did so as warranty work (due to the car’s age and average 25,000 miles); unfortunately this has meant that I have no paperwork to confirm that this work has actually been done and I can already sense the same problem creeping back. Have you heard of anything like this before with this car and engine?

Sorry, this is a completely new one on me. I also ran one of these THP 150s for 6 months. But I would check the crankshaft position sensor, its connectors and its cable.
