Can you help with my Peugeot 206's electrical fault?

I have a 2002 Peugeot 206 1.4HDI. A couple of weeks ago the engine management light started flickering on and off, and the speedo and the rev counter will read 0 one second them will read 120 miles an hour, and the rev counter also does the same. The engine will rev up to 4000rpm for a second or two at the same time. This happens every day.

I have taken the car to my local car sparky who replaced the clutch and accelerator sensors, but it's still the same. When the engine is at running temp it feels like the turbo is kicking in and out and gives you a slight jerking motion, but it only does it when the accelerator is not moving or the rev counter is at a set position. I have spoken to the Peugeot technical guys at my local dealership and they say it could be the ECU or an earth problem.

This does sound rather complex and I'd suggest that you do go back to your local dealership and get them to carry out a complete check on the ECU in the first instance.
