Which winter wheel and tyre combo is best for the Ford Fiesta?

I want to fit winter tyres and steel wheels to my 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCI. It is currently running 195/55 R15 alloys. I was going to swap them for 175/65 R14 winter tyres on a steel wheel, based on narrower is better in the snow and 14s are much cheaper. Is the narrow tyre an original Ford size, thus keeping the insurance people happy?

14-inch was a Fiesta wheel and tyre size from 2008-2013. Fiesta wheel and tyre sizes changed with the Aston Martin grille facelift. The correct sizes are: 15-inch steel or alloy wheels with 195/60 R15 tyres; 16-inch alloy wheels with 195/50 R16 tyres; 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/40 R17 tyres; Optional spare wheel 5.5 x 14-inch with 175/65 R14. You can get Michelin Cross Climates in 175/65 R14 and 195/60 R15. I'd go for 15-inch wheels and 195/60 R15s.
