Poor fuel economy on Toyota RAV4

My Toyota RAV4 2.2 diesel is disappointing in its fuel economy and only averages at 27mpg. I would like to have something with similar versatility, comfort and quality, but better MPG. Can you help with recommendations please?

If it's only getting 27mpg in regular use then there's something wrong with it or with your type of regular use. Should do 36 - 45mpg .
