Clutch issue on used car - should the warranty cover it?

We have a two year old Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost purchased 6 months ago from a Ford dealer which has a heavy clutch at 36,000 miles. Our local dealer accepts it is heavy, but want me to pay cost to inspect which requires significant dismantling. They have formed the view it was the last owner with heavy use of clutch and quote £700, unless it is the slave cylinder (known issue apparently) when it may be covered by warranty. Independent Mr Clutch says £329 including slave cylinder. Ford customer service say they might help if it is a non-warranty issue but only if I use a Ford dealer of course.

At least they are being honest about the clutch slave cylinder problem, which is refreshing. If it's a 5-speed I don't think it has a DMF so that saves a fortune. If the car is ex-driving school you can't expect any help from Ford or the dealer, so go to Mr Clutch. If it isn't ex-driving school might be better to trust Ford. Of course, if the dealer knowingly sold you an ex-driving school car, than it is down to the dealer because he sold you a car with an existing fault.
