Why does my Ford Focus' cooling fan run on after the engine's switched off?

I bought an ex-demonstrator 59-plate Ford Focus TDCI in March. Ever since I bought the car the cooling fan runs on for around 20-30 minutes after the car is turned off. This happens two or three times a week. The car has been returned to the dealership where I bought it for repair and they cannot find a fault, however they have told me that this should not be happening. The car has now been in seven times and has had a new cooling fan, new cooling fan module, temperature sensor and cooling fan relay fitted. I have now got to the stage where I feel that the car may not be safe and have asked the dealership to replace my car, which they refused.

After speaking to my finance company I was told to reject the car, to which the dealership refused again saying my car was safe to drive, even though they are unaware what the fault is with my car. I feel that I am at risk, as well as any passengers, as in my eyes a car's cooling fan should only be on if a car is overheating.

Sounds like a duff engine water jacket coolant sensor/sender.

I have a Ford Focus. The cooling fan starts when I open the driver's door and stays running all the time. Also, the temperature gauge stays on zero throughout any journey. Any advice?
We have a Peugeot 206 HDi and we have never ever heard the fan cut in Is there a way of checking that the fan does cut in and what temperature should it come on?
