Will my insurance company increase my premium if I have my BMW 3 Series remapped?

I have a BMW E46 and I'm planning to get my ECU remapped. Do I need to inform my car insurance provider? If I do, will they increase my premium? What if they refuse to add my modification? Do I have any other options? I would really appreciate your advice on this.

If you change make an modifications to your car (including ECU remapping) then you will have to advise your insurance company, otherwise your cover could be void if you were to be involved in an accident. It's likely your premium will go up considerably, but it depends on the model and insurer. There's no way around this apart from searching other insurers for a lower quote.
