Can I demand a free fuel economy check for my Vauxhall Astra under warranty?

I've had an Astra SRI150 CDTI leased from new since February. In 5000 miles the fuel consumption has gradually worsened by about 10 per cent. I'm now averaging 43.5 mpg and I know how to drive economically; I've won economy drives! My Vauxhall dealer will check it under warranty, but only if I agree to pay, which seems unfair for a warranty job. Do I have any claim for a FOC check please?

Bring it up with the leasing company. Tell them the car is not delivering "satisfactory" fuel economy and if it is not "satisfactorily" fixed you will cancel the lease citing breach of contract by the lessor.
