New engine needed in my Leon

My 2011 Leon 1.2 TSI Ecomotive needs a new engine. The chain was loose and has apparently done the damage. SEAT has offered 60 per cent of full cost to fix which still leaves me to pay £900. I really believe SEAT should pay the full costs especially because there was a change to the chain soon after my car was purchased.

Unfortunately you broke the 'chain' of liability by buying from a non SEAT dealer so neither SEAT nor any of its dealers can be held liable. It is a common problem, though, and that's why you are being offered 60% of the cost to fix it. Failure of the timing chains was down to stamping out the links on worn out machinery by an outside supplier. For these engines VWG has now switched to belts.
