Nuisance compensation call

I was contacted by a company called The Claims Helpline this week, encouraging me to claim compensation for a collision with a truck last year. I have already done this, but heeding your previous answers on the topic, I asked where they had got my name and accident details from. They claimed to have access to the Motor Insurers' Bureau database. What do you think to this? Surely it is a conflict of interest for the organisation that acts for insurers to promote and facilitate spurious compensation claims?

You can check with the Financial Conduct Authority and the Information Commisioner if 'The Claims Helpline' does have access to this data-protected information. If it is a registered insurer or insurance broker then it could have. If it isn't then this could be a serious breach of The Data Protection Act. Anyone can use MID to check is a car is insured, but they do not have access to data protected claims records.
