Why is Jeep being slow to issue a software update for my 2009 Patriot?

We bought a 2009 Jeep Patriot in January this year. Each time we switch the engine on we get a warning light to check the engine oil. After taking it back to the garage to have the oil looked at, and further investigation, we have been told that the problem is to do with the car's software - Jeep are aware of it and we will have to wait for a new "flash" is released for the car, then we will have an update which will rectify the problem. My problem is, this was noted in January and now we are in July and this "Flash" has still not been released. It concerns me a little, the level of progress with this. I don't really know how to deal with the situation.

Chrysler Jeep is in the throes of being reorganised by FIAT. It had too many models.
