Was the Toyota RAV4 ever offered with leather seats?

I have just bought a 2007 Toyota RAV4 XT5 auto that was advertised with leather seats. I have found splits in the side squab driver's seat and have been told the dealer will not repair this.

A local upholsterer tells me it is not leather anyway. The original advert is not available now. Should the car have leather upholstery and what is my legal position?

Leather was extra on all RAV-4s, even the T180 (at £1250 extra): www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-rav-...s

The dealer may have thought it was leather because it looked like leather. But you have no proof he advertised it as leather. Your dispute with the dealer is whether the seats should be perfect on an eight year old car or not. I can't tell you which way a small claims judge would rule on this.
