My Volkswagen has suffered EGR failure

The EGR system has failed on my 2009 MK6 Volkswagen Golf 1.6TDi at 38,900 miles.

It has been diagnosed by a Volkswagen dealer (Heritage) and they quoted £1387.80 to fix.

The dealer contacted Volkswagen Customer Service and was informed that the car is too old, so no financial assistance.

As a long-term customer, with the car always serviced by dealer, the dealer applied a 50 per cent parts and labour goodwill.

Do I have any other method of compensation?

My sister has the same model Golf from 2010 with the same problem three months ago and Volkswagen Customer Service gave financial assistance!

Extremely common problem with this engine. But the car is now 6 years old so, though the dealer is looking after you, Volkswagen won't.
