Peugeot 308 fuel consumption - why is it so poor?

Have you had any feedback from owners of the new Peugeot 308 regarding fuel consumption? I have just taken delivery of an Allure 2.0 Blue HDI Automatic and for the first 1000 miles it has crept to an average of 44mpg a long way short of the 68mpg quoted.

Yes. Me. I'm running a 308 1.2 PureTech 130 and it's improved. Now averaging 51mpg (overall average over 4000 miles is 50). But the 2.0 HDI auto is torque converter auto so, while it should average 50 on a run I can't see it getting to 68.

I averaged 50 in a bigger Mazda 6 2.2 Skyactiv 150 D torque converter auto over 14,000 miles. Nothing ever matches the ECDC lab terst figure and they do tell you that these days.
