Could you recommend an automatic with lots of load space and power?

I'm aged 70 and need a new car. I've had major spinal surgery and my surgeon recommended that I should be driving a bus or a lorry to be in the correct upright position! It must be an automatic with reasonably good power and torque, and plenty of luggage space.

After flailing around a bit I've narrowed my choice to the BMW X1 Sdrive 20d, Volkswagen 1.4 TSI Touran, Toyota Verso 1.8 with the seven speed CVT and the Peugeot 3008 2.0 HDI 163 HP automatic. I know that you were impressed with the driving of the Peugeot, but I wonder about reliability.

I'd add the new S-Max 2.0TDCI 163 Powershift to your list and drop the Touran, but keep the 3008 and Verso on the list.
