Faulty Nissan Qashqai

A friend of mine has just bought a secondhand Nissan Qashqai from a small dealer 100 miles or so away from where she lives. She took it to her local Nissan dealer for a service and they told her it needs a new clutch and brake pads.

She has owned the car for a couple of weeks and obviously got the pads changed, at a cost of £100+ for the pads and labour. Taking the car back to the dealer for repair to the clutch (I assume this is under warranty as it must have been faulty when sold?) is not convenient for her. What is the best recourse?

"Not convenient"? She can demand that the clutch is replaced but has to give the dealer who sold her the car the opportunity to do this: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
