EcoBoost engine problems

I have a 2010 Ford Mondeo with the 2.0 EcoBoost engine. Recently, the car has started juddering at idle and returning poor fuel economy. The car has also come close to cutting out, despite being an auto. The car has been into Ford countless times and they cannot find a problem.

I have driven another EcoBoost Mondeo (had to carry out a 60 mile round trip at my own expense to find one in a dealership) and it was as smooth as you would expect, not like my car at all.

The symptoms are remarkably like the issues described by Focus ST owners relating to the recent recall in the US. Have you had anyone else with other 2.0 Ecoboost-engined vehicles describe similar symptoms? Does the car share the same engine wiring loom considering the basic engine is the same?

The Focus ST fault and cure is now well documented in the Focus ST entry in car by car. www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ford/focus-st-2012/

I hadn't heard of the same fault with the Mondeo, that does not have the 'syncopater' noise box thing of the ST that might interfere with the wiring loom of the ST. Since your car is out of warranty it may be worth attempting the ST 'fix'.
