Problems with a pre-registered Hyundai i30 logbook

I have agreed to buy a pre-registered Hyundai i30 from a dealer on the new 64-plate. I was sent a AFRL form which I was asked to check and sign. This showed the registered keeper as me but as C/O of a taxi company with my address attached.

I informed them that the details were incorrect (I have nothing to do with any taxi company) so I was not willing to sign. I was informed by the salesman that this is standard procedure and that because it is a discounted car it was considered a fleet car, hence why they put the taxi company with my address and name as the registered keeper.

I am confused as I would assume the vehicle was pre-registered to Hyundai and that would show on the logbook along with my correct details as the new owner. Have you come across this before? What would you advise?

Don't do it. This is of dubious legality because the taxi company, not you, will be the registered owner of the car therefore you cannot tell an insurer you own the car. Also any parking, speeding or other camera offence NIPs will go to the registered keeper that might not forward them to you in time.

You can overcome the problem by using a form V62 to immediately register the car in your name as soon as you get it, but the car will still be second hand with the blight of having first been owned by a taxi company and that will make it difficult to sell or part exchange at a later date.
