Citroen Xsara Picasso displaying a fault light

I have a Citroen Xsara Picasso year 2000 that has been standing a while I now have an EML warning light on. The car runs well, so is there a way of removing the light without getting it plugged into a diagnostic machine? Or any tips on what may have caused it to come on?

The reason for the light could be one of many things.

We would suggest that a diagnostic is the best way forward as this will identify if a fault does exist and also you can reset the system.
