Do you recommend the Ford 'CitiStop' system?

I run a six-year-old automatic Skoda Roomster. I like it and I find the warning bleeps when I reverse close to an obstruction helpful. I am nearly 80 and I have an increasing propensity to drive too near to the car in front or not to see a pedestrian, if he darts out in front of the car in High Street situations. I had vaguely thought of changing to a Ford Focus fitted with CitiStop, but a 'bleeping' kit might be a cheap alternative, although of course it won't brake for me. I would welcome your comments and if you have any ideas about a inexpensive bleeper that has a longer range, say 10 metres, that I could fit to the front of the car please?

The kind of bleeper you describe would go off all the time and be intensely irritating. But CitiStop works. Ford does not claim that it will save pedestrian lives so I tested it myself in this video where I would have been the victim if it hadn't worked: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ford/ford-focus-20...o
