Faulty Volkswagen Eos - can I ask the dealer to fix it?

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen Eos five months ago and am concerned about the DSG gearbox and the roof which is leaking. Can I still take the car back to the vendor and ask them to fix it, or is five months too long?

Any significant problems that were present or developing on the date of sale remain the dealer's responsibility for six months from date of sale: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
