DMF failure - which cars don't have this problem?

Have just suffered catastrophic DMF failure on my 40k 2.0 TDi. It is being repaired under warranty but I want to own something which doesn't have this problem.

Do I need to buy,
- Petrol models only?
- DCT, DSG or Powershift Diesels only?

Ford DMFs tend to last longer (up to 200k miles) because they are sprung rather than held together by compound. The only way to avoid one on a diesel is to buy a diesel with a torque converter automatic transmission, such as a Mazda 6 Skyactiv D, or a BMW 320d 8-speed auto. DCT, DSG and Powershift all have DMFs to protect the transmissions.
