Issues with Fiat 500 Diesel

I have a Fiat 500 Diesel car, which is currently having white smoke coming from the exhaust. It is also over revving and the DPF warning light has come on a couple of times now. It is also asking for an oil change when it was only serviced and changed about six months ago.

This has now been happening on and off for about three months; some times it's fine other times I have to stop and restart the car. I have looked through your site and come across a few DPF issues, could this be the problem I am having?

Standard diesel particulate filter problem with the 500 Multijet.

Seems that the ECU supplies too much fuel to the engine to regenerate the DPF and much of it sinks to the sump, contaminating the lube oil and raising its level.

VITAL to continually check this level because if it gets too high the engine will run on its sump oil, will be impossible to stop, will over-rev and will self destruct.

FIAT sticks its head in the sand about this problem. But it is a fault of the car and you should not have to pay.
