Loss of power with Vauxhall Zafira Easytronic

I have a Vauxhall Zafira Easytronic automatic and had loss of power while driving, recently it started doing it more often and was taken into Vauxhall Aldershot, they have said it needs a near clutch and possibly an ECU.

I have looked on various websites and it seems to be a common fault with that model (Easytronic) they have quoted us £1000 for the clutch and possibly another £1000 for the ECU. Is this a common fault with the Vauxhall Zafira Easytronic? Should they be replacing it for free?

If I bought a pram and there was a common fault surely they would be responsible to correct the fault or replace it?

Yes, common problem with Easytronics which are, after all, no more than automated manuals. Electronics and an electric clutch perform the jobs normally done by the driver.
