Does my Citroen C6 need headlight beam adaptors when driving abroad?

I own a 2007 Citroen C6 that has Xenon dual function directional headlights. My local main dealer assures me that because of this feature, when travelling in France, I do not need to fit headlight beam adaptors. Whilst I have every faith in my main dealer I have a niggling feeling that a zealous Gendarme may take a different view. Can you reassure me?

If the lights dip down rather than to the left then there's no need for beam adaptors. You can check that yourself as soon as it gets dark.
