What is a good alternative to the discontinued Renault Modus?

I have been a loyal Renault driver for many years and recently decided to replace my current Modus 1.2 Dynamique with a new model, only to find that the Renault Modus has left the UK marketplace. I have enjoyed the Modus and all its features greatly, as it is very suitable for a 70-year-old to get in and out of, and to drive friends around with its ample interior space. Do you have any suggestions for an alternative model?

Renault chopped its range considerably at the beginning of the year. And Renault does, of course, own Dacia. But the obvious new replacement for a Modus is a Ford B-Max. Test and video: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ford/ford-b-max-20.../

Sensible, practical little car with good features like 'Triptic' rear seat and some diesel engines under 121g/km. Plenty of character too.
Sliding side doors and no central pillar mean unimpeded access. Five star Euro NCAP rating. Engines include 1.0 litre three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol. Decent drive.
