Airbag warning light has come on in my BMW 318d Touring - where can I have the sensor changed?

I have a 2005 BMW 318d Touring. Recently the airbag warning light has been coming on. BMW says the problem is a faulty passenger seat sensor and I am told that this is a failsafe system, where the fault condition is that the air bag will deploy whether or not there is a passenger in the seat. BMW has quoted around £300 to replace the sensor. I am wondering if it is necessary to have this repaired and if there a cheaper way of getting it fixed?

It’s now part of the MoT test, so it has to be fixed. Try: www.airbagman.co.uk or www.airbagreset.com.
