Which economical all-purpose tyres for my Mitsubishi Lancer?

I am shortly going to have to put a new set of tyres on my Mitsubishi Lancer estate. I know that you recommend different tyres for winter and summer but, as a pensioner and probably like many other people, I really can't afford two sets of tyres. What would you recommend as the best all-round tyre? I only do between 5000 and 6000 miles a year.

www.tyrereviws.co.uk recently ran a summary of the Auto Bild All Season Tyre Test. The winner was the Vredestein Quatrac 3, closely followed by the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons. Third was the Hankook Optimo 4S, fourth the Dunlop SP Sport 01AS and fifth Bridgestone's A001.
