Who should we contact first after an accident - our insurance company or Honda Happiness?

We have a new Honda Civic with Honda Happiness cover but the car is insured with LV. I asked LV who we should contact first in the event of an accident and they said that if we used the Honda cover they might not meet the full cost of the repair. This seems to be a bit of a grey area as, by taking advantage of the Honda cover, we can avoid the need to take out recovery cover. Can you clarify this?

That's not what I'd normally expect of LV. The fact is, you are entitled to have your car repaired to Honda standards, otherwise it will be worth considerably less after the repair. If the insurer does not pay for it to be repaired to the required standard, then the insurer is liable for its diminution in value.
