How can I address an inaccurate insurance clams record?

Is it possible to check the insurance claims record used by all insurers? Directline entered a 'no fault' claim I made in December 2010 twice on the record. I then had to make another claim later in 2011. When I found the error, Directline assured me that the record had been corrected. With a new insurer (RAC) I declared two claims and, of course, notified my wife's insurer (also RAC) as I was named driver. RAC then notified me that there was a third undisclosed claim on the record and therefore refused insurance also withdrawing wife's NCD. Almost two hours on the phone has sorted it and I even had Directline talk direct to RAC. How can I be sure the record is now correct?

A Data Protection Act request enables you to ask for any data held on you electronically or otherwise. If the data is wrong and is detrimental to you it becomes an actionable libel and you can sue for any quantifiable loss arising from it.
