Replacing a CA T after warranty work?

I wrote to you some time back about a misfire on my wife's Vauxhall Corsa. Eventually, after a year they have managed to fix it. My only concern was the CAT with unspent fuel going down the exhaust causing premature wear. The Vauxhall dealership have refused to change this on the basis that they carried out an emission test and all proved good.

After a lot of pushing, they have now said that their technical department have said that if the car picked up the misfire, then the on board computer would shut the cylinder down so that there is no chance of unspent fuel going down into the CAT. I find this very hard to believe and have asked them to put that into writing to me. I now intend to take this to the small claims court for failing to supply me with a car fit for purpose and now they have fixed it a year on, expect me to be happy which I am not.

Have you ever heard of such a thing as the computer shutting down the cylinder as they described?

I cannot tell you how you will get on with this case. The misfire might have damaged the cat converter. But if it has not, then you will lose the case.
