Misfiring, smoking E46 BMW 320i

My E46 started with a misfire then loss of power, uneven idle, white smoke and later it flooded cylinder 4 with fuel, disabling the spark plug and allowing raw fuel to flow into the exhaust system.
I thought it was the injectors but after changing them (I even changed the ignition coils) but there was no change, what could the problem be?

Well, firstly check the crankcase breather pipe to see if it is corroded (a known fault). Then also the air filter.
Then check the following.
1.Air intake/vacuum system for any leaks
2.EGR valve/position sensor
3.TP ( throttle position sensor)
4.ECT ( engine coolant temp sensor)
5.MAF ( mass air flow sensor)
6.MAP ( manifold absolute pressure sensor)
7.ECU.

Do you have a working OBD port fitted to the car? If so then a diagnostic may actually show up what the fault is by code, otherwise you will have to check each item separately.

Note that white smoke normally indicates that the fuel being injected into the cylinder is not burning correctly (smoke will burn your eyes).

Although quite a long list , these checks should identify the problem.
