Can I update my Mercedes-Benz nav to 7-digit postcodes?

My local Mercedes-Benz franchised dealer in Northampton said manufacturer has not & will not produce a 7-digit capable Sat Nav hardware because this feature is unique to UK & Ireland only and TOO expensive to produce.

Is this true? Also stated that new software will not overcome the issue. I would like to upgrade my COMAND unit from its awkward 5 digit limitation. Is there a retailer (franchised or independent) that is known to have successfully carried this upgrade?

Not true. Later model Mercedes have 7 digit satnav. But earlier 4 digit satnav cannot be converted to the more sophisticated 7 digit accuracy.
