Is an SUV with DSG/Powershift automated manual ok for towing

Looking to buy a SUV/Crossover to tow a caravan up to about 1500kg. The wife would like an auto but for fuel economy I am looking at DSG/Powershift gearboxes.

Are there any problems with these when towing, especially when reversing up hills etc. when positioning a caravan? Obviously I assume that one has more clutch control with a manual, is this the case though?

I would not even attempt to reverse park a caravan with a DSG. They are difficult enough to reverse solo. I think you need a torque converter auto, but check with the Caravan Club.
