Ford Galaxy 1.6 TDci - excessive tyre wear?

I have a 2012 Ford Galaxy 1.6 TDCI, bought back in September 2012. I'm just wondering is it common for the front tyres to almost reach their legal limit by 7600 miles? I drive quite "normally" not thrashing it to bits, on country roads and in most times roughish terrain. I used to own a 1.9 VW Caddy Maxi life and seemingly according to Kwik Fit 9000 miles for front tyre wear was normal!

No. I ran a Mazda 5 for a year and 11,000 miles with the same 1.6 115PS engine and transmission and the tyres on that still had at least 5,000 miles in them. Those tyyres were excellent Toyo J48 205/55 R16s. If the Galaxy is on lower profile rubber, that may be the reason for the excess wear. Otherwise it might need a check at www.alignmycar.co.uk
