Dash Board reflection in windscreen

I bought a new 520d Touring in March this year, with an Oyster (light beige) interior trim. The dashboard is a light shade of brown.

In Sunlight it reflects very badly into the screen, when it rains the same effect, when going into darkened car parks the same. It is particularly bad in the indentation for the (not fitted) heads up display and the speaker panel.

I believe to be a safety issue and a complete distraction. I was advised by my local dealer to contact BMW UK, who have not taken the complaint seriously and will not even look at it, and advised me to go contact my dealership in case of "further issues".

A solution would be to have a black dash top fitted, cost over £1000 fitted. But I don't think that I should have to pay this, when a car of this marque and prestige has such an obvious flaw.

Any advice on how to take this further? Before I bought the car it was not possible to see a full Oyster interior, but only a black or Oyster over black (which has the black dashboard fitted), so it was an order from brochure situation.

I am quite appalled by BMW's attitude. Any experience of this sort of thing or how to deal with BMW on this?

I'm afraid that you ordered the car with this trim and what you are suffering is the consequence. You could have ordered a car with a black dash top, but you didn't. That said, most F10s and F30s suffer a reflection of the heads-up projector. If you persuade your brain to ignore the reflection it won't bother you. That's how everyone else copes.
