Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.4 MA TCT - Economy

I finally got my factory ordered Giulietta 1.4 MA TCT car 4 days back and so far have driven 400 miles (300miles of 400 on the motorway), however my economy so far has been really poor.

The car is averaging 29mpg at present and considering 300miles were on the motorway, this is far worse then what I was getting on my previous Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet.

Should I expect this on a new car that had only covered 0.6miles when I started to drive it?

I was advised I should average around 50mpg through city driving but 30mpg is really not acceptable.

What should I expect and if the average MPG does not reach near 50mpg, is there any options to complain to AR?

Test and video of this car here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/alfa-romeo/alfa-gi.../ Only had it for a couple of hours so no chance to test the EC certified 54.3mpg. I would expect 40mpg + driven the way you describe and keeping to the 70 limit. Obviously if you drive more quickly it will be far worse. Are you sure it is getting into top gear?
