Road and tyre noise in the Mazda 2 1.5 Sport

When I asked you what car to buy for retirement that was as much fun to drive as my much loved Mazda MX5 one of the cars you recommended was the Mazda 2 1.3 TS2.I tried and bought a 6 month old 2011 demonstrator 1.5 Sport as I was so impressed with it,but I do find the road and tyre noise a bit much on the motorway. Is the Mazda 1.3 TS2 any quieter?

The reason for suggesting the 1.3 TS2 is that we tested the 1.3 TS, the 1.3 TS2 and the 1.5 Sport pretty much back to back over the same couple of days. We were surprised that the 1.5 was actually lower geared than the 1.3 TS2, which is one reason why its noisier on motorways. And the Sport is on lower profile, wider tyres.
