Has my remap caused problems?

I have a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS 320 diesel which I had mapped 4 months ago to improve fuel consumption.

Recently my turbo failed and I booked it into MB Edinburgh. Having examined the car they stated that the inlet shut off motor was faulty. I was not able to leave the car then, but driving it home I noticed a significant drop in power.

A few days later I phoned up to book the car in and commented on the loss of power following their investigation, to which they made no comment.

I drove it down a few days later to Edinburgh with the loss of power still an issue, the garage then contacted me to state that the DPF filter had melted and also would require replacement in addition to the inlet shut off motor.

The bill came to £2618, but could Mercedes have caused this secondary issue when examining the problem originally? They suggested they had never seen a melted DPF filter and weren't able to offer any reasons why it had melted other than suggesting that it might have been caused by the mapping, which I have now had removed.

Yes, it could easily have been caused by the remap.
