Carpet and upholstery not up to scratch

I have a base model Note which I use for carrying wood and rubbish etc. as well as passengers.

Why is the quality of carpet provided such rubbish? It is no more than a piece of felt. All sawdust and hairs stick to it (same for upholstery) and are very difficult to hoover off. Surely the manufacturers could provide some close woven material which is easier to keep clean?

Are the manufacturers deliberately giving us rubbish materials to differentiate base models from more luxurious? It isn't just the Note; it was the same on my Yaris etc. It reminds me of when manufacturers would'nt rust proof cars because they said customers wouldn't pay the extra.

You are meant to buy accessory mats and cover up the carpets. This is not a utility car. If you want to use it as one, buy suitable protective rubber matting.
