Cam belts and plastic pulleys

I do low mileage and have the usual cam belt change query. In one of your answers you say that 1.4 & 1.6 VW engines can have plastic pulley issues, but that the diesels are good for 60,000mls.

Is this because they do not have plastic pulleys and as such do not have the same time constraint? Or should these also have the 4yr replacement schedule?

My car has done 32,000 mls since its belt & water pump change 4yrs ago.

That was the reason, yes. But VW may have now switched even the diesels to plastic or nylon pulleys.
