Please advise your readers to check the mileage on the certificate after an MoT.

My son recently sold his car and had trouble because the purchaser had discovered from a history check that the mileage was 70,000 more than on the odometer in the car. The odometer reading was correct. The fault was with an MoT garage that had entered the incorrect mileage in 2009. It might be worth pointing this out to your readers to check their certificates as apparently the MoT certificate can only be changed within seven days of the test. Could be very costly

Too true. Mileage incorrectly entered by MoT stations cannot later be corrected on the register. So if an MoT station makes a keying error the car is forever blighted with the mistake.
