Where can I get car insurance for a hire car driven abroad which includes collision damage waiver?

I plan a trip abroad, which would include car hire for a 5-week period. I have heard that it is possible and preferable to purchase an insurance policy to specifically cover collision damage waiver, thus avoiding the excessive collision waiver insurance charges effected (on a daily basis?) by car hire companies. Is this correct and, if so, what are the charges and where can I get it?

You can buy it from www.insurance4carheire.co.uk but you need to check the car before you drive it away using a digital camera and the damage sheet to record every tiny piece of damage, and get this signed by the rental rep. You will then need to return very early (bearing in mind your flight time) and go through the same procedure again with a digital camera and the damage sheet and the rep. If you don't, the rental company may well find chargeable 'damage' that it would not have found it you had used its own expensive CDW.
