Insurer has inaccurate information on me

Whilst trying to obtain an insurance quote the salesman informed me of incidents that I was unfamiliar with. He refused to elaborate, merely stating dates.

How can I find out what information is held on insurers databases and, more importantly, how can I correct inaccurate information that is diseminated throughout the insurance sector?

Financial Services Ombudsman. If information is held on you that is untrue it is defamation.
