Rear brake discs needed after 15,000 miles

Our Honda Jazz with 15,000 miles is 4 years old needs new rear brake discs. There is a very distinctive lip around the circumference of the discs, but only a small lip on the front discs.

Surely this indicates a faulty materials problem? Do I have a case for a goodwill warranty claim on Honda?

It's because the rear discs rust from lack of use. You have no right to claim, but always worth trying for some goodwill.
