PSA-BMW diesel unit

I believe there is a new PSA diesel unit, the 112 HDi. I also believe that this engine is built with BMW for the first time, and PSA no longer work with Ford to produce diesel units.

Could I ask if the PSA HDi 112, or the Mini Cooper D 112, is chain cam or belt cam? and also are they 8 valve or 16 valve?

The MINI 1.6 (1560cc) diesel up to late 2010 is the same 110hp as all other PSA/Ford engines in co-operation with BMW, and it is 16 valve, not 8.

From late 2010 BMW/MINI introduced a new 1598cc 16-valve 112ps engine, claiming it to be a reduced size copy of their own 2.0d engine. It is a totally different engine to the 1560cc unit.
