Corsa dipstick problem

Does anyone know how to remove the oil dipstick pipe from the sump/engine block on a 2003 Corsa C 1.0 12v (Z10XE engine), as I have to remove it so that I can replace the heatshield. I've heard that the o-ring makes it hard to remove them?

We are aware that the dipstick o ring can get stuck, but do not know of a simple remedy to remove it.
You could try posting it in the Technical Matters section of the Backroom forum where someone may have experienced a similar problem and can shed some light on a possible fix: honestjohn.co.uk/forum/threads.htm?f=4
