Mondeo 1.8 TDCi purchase

I'm looking at used Mondeos, around 2008. Occasionally 100bhp, 1.8 diesels pop up, are these vastly different to drive from the more common 125?

Don't touch the 1.8 diesels. Wheezy old engine with poor torque that stalls a lot. Now dropped.
