Whistling turbo

My wife's Freelander is nearly 3-years-old and we have recently noticed a whistling noise which our local Land Rover dealer has diagnosed as a bearing in the turbo.

Land Rover have refused to repair under warranty because their records show that in the past the vehicle has had petrol put into it (prior to her ownership). My wife has owned the car for 18 months with no engine problems, there is a full service history. Are Land Rover justified in refusing to fund the repair which will cost £1,100.

If this is true, entirely justified.
